Someone’s Mom, Someone’s Grandma, our Client

Last weekend, a 2-alarm residential fire came through the wire. I set out to assist and be with the owners of their home, not knowing who or what I would endure. The little lady who owned the home was not there when the fire started. She was around the corner at the 501 playing poker. As she arrived to see the street lined fire trucks, she began to cry. I approached her and said I was there to help. Even if the help at that moment was to sit and listen. Offer a hand to hold or a shoulder to cry on. Every memory she had was in that house., so I sat there with her and went through the waves of emotions, just listening, just being there. We watched for 4 hours the fight to get the fire under control, then them saw off the second floor to open it up and then watch them throw all her belongings out onto the grass. Heart breaking on many levels. Here at SERVPRO we go through the traumatic events of a fire with our clients.
